Join Causewave, in partnership with the Council of Agency Executives and Center for Community Engagement, for an empowering workshop that will address core aspects of building and developing a more productive, engaged board of directors.
This workshop will address core aspects of building and developing a more productive, engaged Board of Directors. Presentations prepared and delivered by experienced Board leaders will help you learn how to navigate issues and challenges facing nonprofit boards. Topics will be relevant for boards of various sizes, levels of effectiveness, and longevity.
The workshop will include:
Keynote Presentation: Todd Butler (President & CEO, Causewave) will lay the foundation for a well-functioning board including the importance of having and using a strategic plan.
Option 1: Building a solid foundation through fundamentals: board structure, recruitment, orientation, engagement, and strategic planning. This breakout is meant for organizations looking for guidance on the core tenets of building, organizing and developing their boards.

Option 2: Boosting board effectiveness: transitioning from an oversight board to a fundraising board, performance surveys, annual goal setting and other engagement tactics. This breakout is meant for organizations that are poised for growing their board's engagement and responsibilities in the area of strategy, fundraising and relationship building.

Q&A Session with a Panel of Pairs of CEOs and Board Chairs: Possible topics include succession planning, developing a board plan, the board's role in strategic planning, specific tactics for engaging your board members in achieving your fundraising and relationship building goals, the board’s role in organizational diversity and making progress against structural racism.
